Houston, USA

"We all take part and share ideas about projects we like to get involved in throughout the community."

The Houston Charity Committee has a long-standing relationship with the Ronald McDonald House, a charity whose aim is to offer a “home away from home” to families with seriously ill children being treated in Texas Medical Centers. The local committee organises every year a “Trafigura Run For the House”, a fundraising event where Traflets can sweat out for a good cause.

In 2016 the traditional Trafigura Run For the House was cancelled due to bad weather conditions. However, the storm did not stop the Houston Charity Committee, who was able to raise $324,000 thanks to the engagement of sponsors, donors, fundraisers and registrants. Moreover, $300,000 have been dollar-by dollar matched by the Trafigura Foundation – which means that the total raised by the Committee for the cause is $624,000, an outstanding result even for the high fundraising standards kept by the Houston Charity Committee in the last years.

Folds of Honour

In May 2016, the Houston Charity Committee and local staff members supported Folds of Honor, a US based charity that provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of deceased and disabled wars veterans. The office was able to raise $15,000 for the charitable organisation, which were doubled by the Foundation thanks to the “matching fund” scheme.

The genuine commitment of the local’s Trafigura office was awarded by the Oklahoma City with a special gift, a commemorative statue.
