A long-term partner of the Trafigura Foundation, Bateau Genève is a social endeavour with a specific capacity-building scheme for marginalised and impoverished people.
Every day of the year without fail, ‘Bateau Genève’ welcomes people in need on board without discrimination: homeless people, undocumented people, people with addictions and those who are generally living on the outskirts of mainstream society. Its privileged central location makes it easy to access and word of mouth contributes to making this a lively and busy support centre in the city.
Le Bateau serves free breakfast every day to between 150-200 people. In addition, the ‘passengers’ receive social support through activities organised on board where they interact and seek solutions together through discussion groups and presentations.
The Foundation supports the most recent initiative from Bateau Genève: a successful work-based reintegration scheme, which offers permanent passengers steady manual employment over several weeks or months.
