Fundación Integración Comunitaria, Peru

Since 2009, the Trafigura Foundation has been working in close cooperation with FIC, which was established in Peru jointly by Trafigura's Peruvian entities.

FIC prioritises improvements in the areas of health, education, agriculture and the environment. A variety of programmes are implemented in close coordination with the local and regional authorities and population, as well as Trafigura staff and the Charity Committee in Peru.

In 2011, FIC was involved in developing a project to dam an average 4.2 million cubic meters of rain water, which will ultimately make it possible to irrigate 1,500 hectares of farming land, benefit five local communities and help out 4,850 farmers.

In 2014, community education was a focus, with a special emphasis on a local boarding school for the remote community of Pedregal. The dormitories were refurbished, serving 62 children. In addition, families receiving harvesting and cultivating support were able to increase sales of their produce by 400%.
