The quality of Argentina’s public education system is below average compared to other Latin American countries. Teachers’ absenteeism is widespread and disparities are on the increase. It is often said that education is key to moving up the socio-economic ladder. Unfortunately, in Argentina too, gaining access to quality education is difficult but thanks to Germinare, 40 children can now get scholarships to good schools, increasing their prospects and horizons.

We fund Germinare’s ‘Agents for Change’ programme because it supports children in secondary education in a country where 40% of young population haven't finished secondary education, and 24% of youngsters between the ages of 18 and 24 neither work nor study. Germinare focuses on individuals who have the potential and willingness to follow a quality education. After a thorough 14-month-long selection and leveling process, participants are enrolled into schools (private and public) to gain a high school diploma. Our grant covers the most vulnerable of these children. Happily, some will go on to attend university and become professionals in later life.
