New Partnership to Support Climate-tech Innovation in Emerging Markets
The Trafigura Foundation is proud to support a new initiative aimed at strengthening the climate resilience of small and medium-sized businesses in urban areas of Indonesia, Nigeria and Pakistan.
Across many emerging markets, MSMEs form the backbone of local economies but face increasing climate-related risks — from heatwaves and flooding to severe storms and power outages. At the same time, promising climate-tech innovations often struggle to reach the market due to limited financial, technical and institutional support.
We are supporting New Energy Nexus (NEX) that will integrate climate adaptation into its programmes in three countries (Indonesia, Nigeria and Pakistan), providing entrepreneurs with tailored technical assistance, funding pathways and access to strong local networks. NEX will also collaborate with financial institutions, regulators and policymakers to create an enabling environment for climate-resilient solutions to scale.
This collaboration aims to unlock practical, scalable solutions — from cooling technologies to reliable backup power — that help protect businesses, safeguard livelihoods and strengthen community resilience. Together, these efforts aim to help communities better withstand climate impacts and create lasting economic stability across emerging markets.
