Trafigura Foundation Invests in Blue Economy Solutions for Resilient Island Communities
Outrigger Impact has just announced the first close of the Outrigger Impact Fund I, a blended finance vehicle designed to support blue economy businesses across Small Island Developing States (SIDS). We are proud to be among the partners supporting this initiative, which aims to mobilise capital for solutions that strengthen climate resilience, create sustainable livelihoods and protect vital marine ecosystems.
By combining philanthropic, public and private capital, the fund will help close the adaptation finance gap while supporting blue economy businesses working in areas such as sustainable fisheries, ecosystem restoration, coastal resilience and climate-smart infrastructure.
The Foundation’s investment reflects our commitment to backing innovative financing solutions that enable communities to adapt to climate change while creating sustainable livelihoods and protecting the ecosystems they depend on.
Targeting a total size of US$100 million, the fund aims to benefit at least 2 million people, support more than 12,500 jobs, avoid 1 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions, and enhance the resilience of more than 100,000 hectares of natural ecosystems.
