New Partnership to Expand Women-led Water Services in Northern Ghana
The Trafigura Foundation is partnering with Saha Global to expand access to safe drinking water in rural communities across northern Ghana.
The initiative will support Saha Global’s model of training and equipping local women to run small water service points, providing affordable, safe drinking water while creating sustainable livelihoods.
The partnership will also support the rehabilitation and maintenance of water infrastructure, strengthen climate-resilient water resource management, and pilot a district last-mile water trust to help finance the long-term operation and maintenance of rural water systems.
By 2028, the programme aims to provide long-term reliable water access to an additional 350,000 people, rehabilitate 83 boreholes and extend maintenance support to more than 500 water points, while creating and sustaining over 2,400 jobs for women.
Together, the Trafigura Foundation and Saha Global aim to strengthen water security and community resilience to climate change, while creating new economic opportunities for women in northern Ghana.
