Fostering Collective Action: Insights from the Latimpacto Annual Conference

Last week, our Executive Director, Dario Soto Abril, participated in the Latimpacto Annual Conference in Mexico, a key event focused on addressing social and environmental challenges across Latin America.

Dario joined a roundtable on the climate adaptation landscape in the region, alongside María Moreno Córdoba from the Latin American Development Bank (CAF) and Mario Bernal from Fundación Avina.

As the climate crisis intensifies, building a strong ecosystem of philanthropies, investors, and implementers is crucial. Coordinated action is necessary to close the adaptation finance gap and address the urgent need for climate resilience in the region. By working together, we can scale solutions and create long-term resilience for vulnerable communities.

During the conference, participants emphasized prioritizing investments in water, agriculture, and food systems. The Mexico gathering marks the first step in a broader initiative to establish a coalition of organizations committed to climate action in Latin America.

Next week, in collaboration with Dalberg and Latimpacto, our Foundation will lead a
dialogue-based workshop during Climate Week in New York. We will conclude this
first series of dialogues on climate adaptation during the Biodiversity COP16,
taking place in Cali, Colombia, in October.

The conference was an incredible opportunity for the Trafigura Foundation to foster collective action. By identifying shared priorities, we can forge partnerships between philanthropists, impact investors, implementers, and other key players. Our call to action is to leverage existing resources for greater impact, including co-investment opportunities that accelerate climate adaptation and resilience across Latin America.
