Honouring Women’s Day: Empowering Communities Globally

On International Women’s Day, we proudly celebrate the incredible work of many of our partners empowering in underserved areas around the globe.

With the Foundation’s support, BOMA is enrolling 2,100 women entrepreneurs in the drylands of southern Ethiopia. Through seed capital, business training, and climate adaptation initiatives, BOMA is not only restoring land but also creating pathways out of poverty for 13,000 people.

Since 2012, Root Capital has invested USD 700 million in women-led enterprises, benefiting over 600,000 women farmers. The Women in Agriculture Initiative bridges gender gaps by offering financial services and gender equity training to help women lead in agriculture.

Planet Indonesia is empowering women through savings cooperatives, financial literacy programs, and leadership roles in conservation and community governance. This initiative is also improving healthcare and education for women and girls in the region.

One of our newest partners, Nuru, provides women with livestock, business training, and microloans, promoting financial independence in Ethiopia and Nigeria. Nuru also ensures that women take on leadership roles, giving them a stronger voice in their communities.

Education for Employment equips young women in North Africa with skills in renewable energy and climate-smart agriculture, addressing the region’s high youth unemployment. With 60% of its graduates being women, EFE has already helped thousands secure jobs and start businesses in the green economy.

These are just a few examples of the steadfast commitment of the Foundation’s partners to breaking barriers and creating opportunities for women worldwide.
