Boosting employment opportunities for youth in Huelva and Seville

Spain’s labour market suffers severe structural problems such as high youth unemployment, a predominantly low-skilled workforce and a concerning level of precarious work, characterized especially by temporary employment. The southern region of Andalucía is one of the country’s most affected areas, with unemployment at 22%.

Young people from difficult socio-economic backgrounds and with low levels of education are those who are experiencing the highest obstacles to enter an already fragmented job market. Without targeted mentoring and support, they risk facing further marginalisation.

As a member of the country-wide Incorpora programme developed by Fundación La Caixa, Fundación Don Bosco is helping high-risk youth in Spain to discover and nurture their career pathways and break the cycle of social exclusion.

Its programme targets 18 to 30-year-olds who are not in education, employment or training and offers a comprehensive learning journey from guidance to career development, professional training, personal mentoring, and job placement support.

Our partner will provide specific training aimed at preparing youth for a sector or profession of their choice, helping them find a first employment opportunity matching their ambitions and newly acquired skills. With over 20 years of activity in the region, Fundación Don Bosco relies on a solid network of business partners through which job placement is made possible.

In 2021, the Trafigura Foundation started a two-year collaboration with Fundación Don Bosco’s in Seville and Huelva. Since the start of our partnership (September 2021) until December 2021, the organisation has trained 41 youth and helped 23 of them find a job.
